Paramount Network Launch by Gretel
My Role: Lead AnimatorIn 2018 Viacom decided to replace Spike TV with Paramount Network.
Paramount’s century-long cinematic history informed Gretel’s exploration of voice, design, and motion language. The result is a modern, fun visual identity that harkens back to the days of film strips and big screens.
Typography references movie posters and trailers. Color palette is restrained and premium without being too serious for the breadth of Paramount’s programming.
Blip transitions evoke film pre-rolls and edit marks.
Scrolling always moves us up.
Nobody wants to trek to the bottom of a mountain.
We created endpages in different lengths and with a variety of animations so they don’t start to feel repetitive. We also created alts that used series logos instead of type and footage instead of graphic backplates. Endpages and logo stings accommodate tune-in, streaming, and app messaging and are available with and without network attribution.
